I started this journey in 03 had surgery in 04 stopped losing in 05..gained weight in 09.  I have been trying to get a hold of this thing for a long time.  I talked to surgeon after surgeon, doctor after doctor....They all said be happy use lost 300lbs and go have plastics, there is nothing wrong with weighing in the 200's .  I did not start this to get some where in the 200's.  A year ago this month a surgeon told me ..."we can get you to 200 and plastic will take you the rest of the weigh....I got excited....but then he dogged my surgeon and said he would take down everything and restart because something had to go wrong.....I did not like his attitude and the fact that regardless what the ins would pay he adds 2k just for his time.
I just kept wishing, praying and hoping....Finally my surgeon moved back to town and I saw him and he said I will help you with or without surgery...he did the test...Said everything was good and the only thing he recommended was a strict diet and exercise or putting the lapband over the rny and a strict diet and exercise.  I waited to hear all september that I was approved....they came back and said you need to see a dietician.  So we made the appt, he is my surgeons office on wednesday...saw him, he was impressed with my eating, my knowledge...wrote it up....the coordinator submitted it this morning and they approved it this afternoon and I am one happy camper.
I get the remix on 10/11 I am hoping to have the best of both worlds.  My pouch still works...I cannot eat anything...but no with more restriction I am hoping that things change for me . Pray for me...I am excited for another opportunity to get to my desired weight...It has been a long road and a long time coming. I have learned that on any journey the point is to finish...I want to finish...Dont mind the work at the end of the journey but I just want to finish and finish strong.
I love you guys.

Good Morning!

Was the regain due to a change in your diet?

"restart because something had to go wrong" How was the other surgeon able to conclude that ? What kind of tests did he perform?

"he did the test" What test did your current surgeon perform?

"My pouch still works...I cannot eat anything" Why add a band if you already have restriction?

To answer your questions...I had and accident in 09 steroid injections caused me to gain the weight.
Nothing went wrong I lost 300lbs in 9 months from 04 to 05 I stayed the same weight up until 09.

Most surgeons said you did well you lost 55% some dont do that be happy.    I took  and echo, upper gi and ct scan looking at pouch in and out.  with my original surgeon...The surgeon I did not choose scheduled the same test. I did not go to him.

I have restrict, obviously it is not enought to reduce the my weight.  my only hope is that more restriction and more exercise will help me...But because of skin issues I have to lose more weight to be able to do the exercise because of  joint issues ...I am still to big. my options are slim coming from my original size and the issues with bones and joints.

Personal note. I have seen the size of my pouch as I was taking the upper gi and I and the radiologist agree that my pouch is significantly bigger than most..therefore more restriction is definitely needed.  I have always been able to eat 1/3 to 1/2 of really good quality food.   taking me back down to 1/3 or 3 oz may help me lose at least 100lbs which will be a big help 150 would be extremely helpful.
there are other options but the band is considered to be the safetest for me at this point.

Wow Di! I had no idea that you went through so much.

300lbs in 9 months? Now THAT is something to be really happy about. You rocked the heck out of your tool!!!

Did the surgeon ever address malabsorption and the DS? I know it's the 11th hour but with your history of steroids and joint issues it may be worth checking out if that's an option.

Good luck and well wishes!

My surgeon at this point does not recommend me doing anything else more invasive than the lap band.  It would be and entire other story if I was having issues and problems.  I never had any other than when the honeymoon was over it was over.  I trust him.  Although the doctor I chose not to do business with was willing to take loose everything that was done and possibly doing the DS etc.  I understand it would have taken him twice as long and the too many possible problems...If I had not seen any results , I would have considered it. I am comfortable with his suggestion and my decision.  I have seen people who did this be very successful.  I am hoping this will work for me as well.  I have found other avenues to deal with my pain so I have not had steroids since February. I don't ever plan to use them again.

My eyes are crossed but congratulations!
